چکیده
This study investigated the effect of ethanol stem bark extract Irvingia gabonensis (ESEIG) on sodium arsenite (SA)-induced pro-inflammatory cytokines and hematological perturbations in Wistar rats. Fifty-five rats weighing 100 g - 179 were distributed into eleven groups (n=5). Group 1 had feed water only. 2 received 4.1 mg/kg body weight (kgbw) SA. Groups 3-11 SA and/or ESEIG. Treatment was done orally for 14 days. Interleukin-1β (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-10 (IL-10), interleukin-4 (IL-4) concentrations, hemoglobin (HB) concentration, red blood cell (RBC) count, packed volume (PCV), mean concentration (MCHC), (MCH), corpuscular (MCV), white (WBC) count its differentials platelet (PLT) used to investigate immunological effects Exposure produced significant (p ˂ 0.05) increases hepatic IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-10 IL-4 concentrations relative control. Administration also caused decreases HB, RBC, PCV, MCHC, MCH, MCV PLT WBC, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils neutrophils compared with ESEIG concomitantly weeks after exposure, mitigated deleterious However, alone at various doses some assayed parameters, These results imply that may be protective against SA-induced inflammation derangements Its exclusive administration chronic basis slightly toxic.

Protective effect of Irvingia gabonensis stem bark extract on cadmium-induced nephrotoxicity in rats
Cadmium has been considered a risk factor for humans as it accumulates in body tissues, such as the liver, lungs, kidneys, bones, and reproductive organs. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of Irvingia gabonensis (IG) against cadmium (Cd)-induced nephrotoxicity. The study was performed on twenty (20) male rats divided into four groups: control group, cadmium group (4 mg/kg/...
